Seen as one of the founders of Club music, DJ JOSE is an important pioneer in the dance scene. With a lot of his hits played in every Dutch club regularly, his productions rarely fail to hit the charts.
DJ JOSE (Jos Klaster) was born March 24th 1966 in Meppel, The Netherlands. Music was always his first and foremost priority. Somewhere down the road, he gets into remixes as realises what real mixing is all about, inspired by records like Relax, by Frankie Goes To Hollywood and High Energy, by Evelyn Thomas. At 14 years old, he starts his DJ career by playing at school parties. It seems not much later when he is the resident DJ at a bar dancing called Chez Jean in Steenwijk, his home base at that time. This residency gets him more and more bookings in other popular and well-known clubs in the area, like Locomotion in Steenwijk and Lord Nelson in Meppel.
At the age of 19 he starts working for the local radio station, where he hosts different radio shows. Then, at 24, Barend Zielman, manager of the big Dutch music hall X-Ray enrols him in a mix-competition, presented by the famous Dutch jock Alex van Oosterom. He didn't have an official DJ name, so manager Barend introduces one for the first time: DJ JOSE is a fact!
Playing in different clubs and drive inn shows all over the country, the name DJ JOSE becomes a well-known entity in the club scene. In 1996, DJ JOSE starts working as A&R and product manager of Ala Bianca BLX and Media Records BLX, a record company. Because of his crazy-busy DJ schedule, he quits his day-time job in 2001 and becomes a full time DJ. Starting 1999 until the end of 2001 DJ JOSE is the resident DJ of the awesomely popular Dutch club Lexion in Westzaan.
Nowadays, DJ JOSE performs in every club in Holland but is also a famous DJ abroad, in Alanya (Turkey), Oslo (Norway), Canary Islands, Lloret da Mar, Blanes and Salou (Spain), Corfu, Mykonos and Crete (Greece), Israel, Curacao, Aruba, St. Maarten and even Bermuda. He also performs at big festivals like: Mystery Land (NL), Dance Valley (NL), Free Festival (NL) and Trance Energy (NL).
Besides his work as a DJ, DJ JOSE has already produced a lot of hits like: Wrong=Right (1998), House of Justice (1999), II Symbols (2001) and Access (2001) on the label Media Benelux. In 2003 DJ JOSE switches to the record label Zzap Recordings to release Hecitate (2003). This record is also turns out a big succes in countries like England, Austria and Germany. His next record Stepping in To The Beat (2005) also hits the right spot abroad in England, France, Spain en Portugal. Nearly all these records have been co-produced with DJ/Producer G-Spott.
In July 2006 DJ JOSE releases the track single Dedication on the White Villa Records label Dance Villa. This is the first time DJ JOSE and DJ/Producer John Marks join forces. DJ JOSE has called his track Dedication to let it be known he is very dedicated to his music and he solidly loves his job. Dedication is released with a terrific music video.
With the hit Turn the lights off DJ JOSE again proves his hit potential. In spring 2007 the track reaches promising positions in the Top 40 aswell in Dance charts in the rest of Europe. It’s successor Physical Attraction also reaches a Top 40 position and is playlisted at several major Dutch radiostations.
This year the enthusiastic DJ celebrates his 25th anniversary with a spectacular new single + clip and a DJ JOSE Hooked on Music tour. Especially for the tour he composed a five-hour program of all the highlights of his career combined with the sound of today. There are also guest-dj's, dancers, an MC and a DJ JOSE DJ booth with various special effects.
After the killer track and ‘Dancesmash’ ‘Like That’ Dancevilla is proud to release the remake of the 2005 hit ‘Stepping to the beat 2.0’! With a package of 8 phenomenal remixes, the track certainly will hit the club-scene again.
